The selection of bars and restaurants in town is growing day by day; meaning that there is something to meet everyone’s wants and wishes but how do you decide which place to choose.
Well that’s simple; just try them all! Or to make it even easier we will try them all and let you know! The Devonshire on Division Street has been round for a good number of years and has always enticed in those looking for a good cocktail or beer but they offer far more than just a good alcohol fuelled evening.
The Devonshire is an easy-going, laid-back type of establishment offering delicious homemade, locally sourced food and a wide selection of beers and ales to wash it all down with. And if you’re not a beer lover they have over 100 gins for you to sample. WARNING – don’t sample all in one evening please!
There isn’t any need to explain in detail the ideology of the food and cooking, it’s simple; the small team of passionate chefs are devoted to creating sublime yet honest and traditional food. Everything is homemade, fresh and delicious from award winning sausages and tempting burgers to homely handmade pies. For you non-meat lovers there are sumptuous offerings too from beetroot and mixed bean goulash to butternut squash and pine nut risotto. They also offer a fabulous Sunday lunch with choices of topside of beef, Moss Valley lamb or a vegetarian alternative with all the trimmings to stoke you up for the week ahead!
I am thoroughly enjoying the ale and beer resurgence at the moment; people aren’t satisfied with a just a pint of lager anymore, they want to try some thing different, something unusual, something unique. The Devonshire have fridges full to bursting point with craft beers and a large selection of guest ales on tap means there is always something to be adventurous with, have a chat with the staff and I am sure they will be able to match something to your tastes.
Now beer I understand but gin, I am a little rusty when it comes to gin, but luckily The Devonshire have us covered with an iconic collection to accommodate even the most knowledgeable of gin-thusiasts. They know so much about this clear liquid that they even make their own, True North Sheffield Dry Gin, and run a monthly gin school. Alongside the gin they offer a range of classic cocktails, unique blends and weekly favourites for you to choose, the staff are even happy to create something especially for you if your feeling picky 😉
So if you haven’t checked out The Devonshire before head down for some no nonsense, tasty grub and a good beer or gin to help wash it all down. Good times!
