There’s more to Italian food than just Bolognese and carbonara. Italy has many regions with their own traditions and delicacies, and Grazie are on a mission to bring a little piece of Puglia to the heart of Sheffield.

This family run restaurant specialises in freshly made pasta which is made from scratch daily, just like Vito’s nonna used to make fresh orecchiette (Apulian ear-shaped pasta) and cavatelli (small shell-shaped pasta) back in his home town Polignano a Mare. Check out their Instagram to watch it being made, it’s truly mesmerising!
You can tell a lot of love goes into their food, Grazie uses local independent suppliers as well as typical Southern Italian ingredients to create their homemade sauces, authentic desserts and unique Apulian dishes that you won’t find in Italian chains. Some of the favourites are Agnello Lento (slow cooked pulled lamb pasta), Sapore Di Mare (seafood pasta with homemade fish stock) and Boscaiolo (porcini mushroom and guanciale pasta).

Don’t leave without trying their Burrata – think Mozzarella but even softer and creamier. I am salivating just thinking about it. Oh, and their Il Fritto platter which comes with lightly fried squid, king prawns, baby octopus and courgette. Ask for the garlic aioli dip too, you can thank us later.

With a forkful of fresh pasta in one hand and a glass of perfectly paired Pugliese wine in the other, you’ll feel like you’re on holiday in South Italy.
“Our name GRAZIE means “thank you”. Sheffield has given us lots of opportunities. We’ve built our family, our home and our business here. We all started from nothing, working in hospitality on a minimum wage and in roughly 5 years here we are. So the name is our way to express our gratitude,” says Vito’s partner Alena.

Well Grazie, on behalf of the people of Sheffield, we’d like to thank YOU.
