This building is more than just a shop it’s a way of life.

In an age where convenience triumphs and everybody shops online, it should be noted that the thing that isn’t available via the internet is the knowledge of products that Good Taste pride themselves on having.

Good Taste – the Sheffield Fair Trade Shop is the result of the dream of Director Jenny Coleman. After many years selling Tearfund’s fair trade gifts and cards in people’s homes and churches the opportunity arose to take over the Fairgrounds shop in Broomhill which was being run by the daughter of a childhood friend.  Jenny took over the shop and quickly transformed it into a beautiful retail experience, her friendly and welcoming demeanour and passion for the fair trade cause backed up with great quality and reasonably priced products has brought in the customers and kept them coming back time and time again.

As soon as you walk in it’s hard not be captivated by Good Taste, with many of their customers describing it an Aladdin’s Cave with a certain creative flourish present throughout.

Good Taste is a ‘not for profit’ business run by a team of volunteers and sells a wide range of high quality fair trade food, greetings cards, jewellery, gifts, toys and home-ware, which demonstrate the talent and ingenuity of the producers whilst enabling them to earn a living and provide for their families. All profits of Good Taste go to support the ‘TASTE‘, a charity working in Nigeria to provide clean drinking water and sanitation facilities to the local people.

Not only did they want to provide a fair trade shopping experience but they set out to educate their customers about the importance of shopping ethically and the impact their choices make on others, but most importantly they always have a smile on their face which is refreshing to say the least.

All of their products are proudly sourced from fair trade and ethical wholesalers who they have developed a close relationship with, meaning that their customers can be sure that they are getting a high quality product whilst paying a fair price to producers, ensuring good working conditions for the producers and farmer and allowing them to support their families. They’re also members of BAFTS (British Association of Fair Trade Suppliers).

Independent Sheffield cardholders will be delighted to hear that their shiny Sheffield passport entitles them to 10% off in this fine establishment so now there are no excuses for you to support local.
