Being an adult and having to make decisions about bills and mortgages, is sometimes just too much to handle. This is why Cocoa Wonderland stands out as a unique hidden gem on the streets of Sheffield.
It allows you to step out of reality and get lost in a world of sweets and treats from all over. So forget all your trials and tribulations, get your priorities in line and decide which chocolate you would like to try today?
Friends and co-owners Anne and Kate, started working in Cocoa during their studies at Sheffield Hallam University. Within a couple of years the previous owners decided they wanted to move on to pastures greener and offered the pair an opportunity to become business partners in 2006. With their can do attitude, elbow grease and copious amounts of chocolate fuelled DIY, they were able to transform the once small chocolate shop into a chocolate emporium!
Upon entering the shop you are greeted by a welcoming smile and homely decor, instantly transporting you into sweet heaven. Despite the name being elemental in the production of chocolate, the shelves are also stacked from floor to ceiling with traditional sweet jars and cabinets showcasing a multitude of delights. With the daunting decision making process ahead, the staff are always on hand to guide you through their world of goodies. So whether you’re simply after that little treat on your way home from work, or you’re looking for a gift for that special someone, you will be sure to find it in Cocoa.
Being part of the Eccy Road and Sharrowvale community is something Anne and Kate are passionate about. Events throughout the month include a book club, a knit club and weekly chocolate lock ins. They also run chocolate tasting evenings showcasing their extensive knowledge about chocolate including details of the source and impact of each product they stock.
Whilst using their creativity and love for chocolate, Cocoa has developed its very own line of chocolatey treats, which can be found in store and at other local independent deli’s, such as Urban Pantry.
So if you’re in the neighbourhood and fancy a rummage around their chocolate fantasy land or you just have a hankering for a cup of tea and one of their scrumptious homemade cakes, look no further than Cocoa Wonderland.
We hope you enjoyed the profile,
Independent Sheffield.
