Kickov, debuts in Sheffield

Back of the net! Kickov, unique immersive Soviet soccer experience, debuts in Sheffield this summer. It’s a free festival of football at the historic Abbeydale Picturehouse, in Sheffield from June 14th to July 15th. More information:

A real festival of football: see the world cup in HD cinema quality on the giant screen at Kickov. The immersive experience includes an electric programme of live independent bands and DJ’s, curated craft beer and street food, an outdoor terrace and a surprise programme of world cup wonders.

This summer, take your place on the terrace and watch the tournament unfold on the biggest World Cup screen in the region. – Kickov, live from the Motherland – the festival of football will be an unforgettable place to see the world’s biggest sporting spectacle unfold at one of the region’s most spectacular spaces.

Much more than the game on a big screen, the amazing Abbeydale Picturehouse, will be completely transformed into an immersive Soviet Soccer experience. The matchday atmosphere will be unbeatable – thanks to an eclectic programme of live music, stand-up comedy and special performances.

Of course, no festival is complete without specially selected food and drink. At Kickov, a purpose built outdoor terrace will ensure fans can feast on international delights, brought to them by local traders, whilst soaking up the rays throughout the tournament. A mates-rates bar will keep fans from  getting thirsty; with craft beer and Kickov themed drinks such as Molotov Cocktails and Moscow Mules. The food line-up includes Get Wurst, for premium currywurst and hotdogs, and proper football pies delivered by South Yorkshire’s finest gourmet pie company Pie Eyed (more to be announced through

Each matchday will feature house-bands; including Smiling Ivy, Last Of The Wonder Kids, Rogue Siesta, Black Thunder Review and some of the region’s finest new talent. For fans with a penchant for the John Barnes rap, there’s a chance to dress up as your favourite footballer for Kickov’s unique Footy-oke. (Hoddle and Waddle wigs are, of course, optional).

Kickov’s Superstar Soviet Soccer Quiz will be the ultimate world cup knowledge test. The competition doesn’t stop there though; fans can face-off at table football, test their hand-eye coordination with the international beer pong tournament and showcase their skills in the big screen FIFA tournament;  excitement levels will hit fever pitch!

More Kickov special guests and festival fun will be announced in June.

It’s going to be an inclusive atmosphere that celebrates the beautiful game in all its glory, we’re even organising a world cup #kitgoals competition for the best dressed fan each matchday!  We’ll be there from kick-off until the final whistle in Moscow, with safe standing encouraged for all the games – Kickov will be an electric immersive experience not to be missed. A true celebration of the World Cup in all its glory.”

Kickov opens its doors with the opening game of the World Cup on June 14th, with a free opening party as the hosts Russia play Saudi Arabia.
