Forge Bakehouse

Not only do they bake an exceedingly fine loaf but you’ll be hard pressed to find a better cup of the sweet golden nectar in Sheffield. After the move to the new shiny venue, Martha (Owner) called in the services of a long term friend and coffee aficionado Sam Binstead (owner of Upshot Espresso) to impart his years of skill and knowledge on the Forge team. This pairing was never going to disappoint!

When we stumbled in for the first time we thought we’d struck it lucky with such a gem. Being greeted by the smells of coffee, a delicious array of sandwiches and cakes as you walk through the door is no bad way to start.

Much like us, Ink and Water are driven by supporting the little guy, and that’s why they use only locally sourced produce in their café. Their beans come from one of Sheffield’s oldest run family businesses, Pollard’s. On offer is an assortment of baked goods and tasty sandwiches, but the focus is most definitely on producing the perfect cup of coffee.

Ceres is a friendly, laid-back cafe/bistro situated on Hunters bar roundabout. They serve up lovely food and is home to a temperamental French chef (Their words not ours!). Once upon a time this little gem on the corner was kept a secret from us by a coffee obsessed friend. He didn’t want us to write about it and make it busy or known! He wanted it all to himself and when you check out how good the coffee is you’ll understand why.
