Sheffield's 18th Adventure Film Festival Brings the World to You!

Get ready for the Sheffield Adventure Film Festival making its grand return for the 18th time at the Sheffield Cathedral on March 15th and 16th, 2024. It's the highlight of 'The Festival of the Outdoors' a month-long bash celebrating Sheffield as The Outdoor City.

The Sheffield Adventure Film Festival is your ticket to a world of gripping tales and jaw-dropping visuals, all from the cosy confines of Sheffield’s Cathedral. Featuring 32 films across 7 sessions, covering everything from climbing and mountain adventures to bite-sized adrenaline kicks and locally crafted films. They've got ticket options for every taste and age group, ensuring everyone gets a dose of adventure on the big screen without breaking the bank.

Beyond the films, mingle with daredevil athletes and filmmakers, join in on insightful talks, groove to live music, and check out cool exhibitions from sponsors like Patagonia and Rab. Don't miss the Sheffield Clothing Repair stall – it's a gem for fixing outdoor gear on a budget and championing sustainability.

Festival Organiser, Mathew Heason, said, “ShAFF has run a number of events in Sheffield Cathedral and we’re very excited to move the festival there this year. The Cathedral is a unique space with an outstanding immersive atmosphere and we can’t wait for the public to join us for the 19th edition of the festival.”

Cllr Martin Smith, Chair of the Economic Development and Skills Committee at Sheffield City Council, said: “It’s great to see the Sheffield Adventure Film Festival back for another year, as this event really celebrates not only Sheffield culture but also adventure sports, which we are rightly known for. As the Outdoor City, Sheffield is the UK's leading destination for outdoor adventure and city culture wrapped up into one.”

Committed to sustainability, ShAFF encourages attendees to travel via public transport or bicycle, with convenient access from Sheffield's mainline train station and ample nearby parking for those driving. Although there will not be any official winners from industry judges this year, the public are being encouraged to vote for the ‘People’s Choice’ Award which is sponsored by Sheffield’s burrito masters, Street Food Chef.

ShAFF is just one piece of Sheffield's Festival of the Outdoors puzzle in March 2024, featuring the Climbing Works International Festival, a mega Pollen Market with urban canoeing and a skate jam, and the one-of-a-kind Park Hill Uprise: Urban Hill Climb. It's not just about showcasing Sheffield's outdoor wonders but inspiring everyone, regardless of age, to grab life by the adventure horns!
