Trapeze Kids

Sharrow Vale Road is home to an assortment of things. There’s hairdressers, pubs, café’s, and restaurants, but amongst all of that is a small kids shop, bringing a little ray of sunshine all year round.

Quirky, quaint, playful and inspiring for kids; Trapeze Kids has it all. Whether you’re a parent buying for your own little one or simply looking for a gift for a friend, you’ll be sure to find something perfect.

In Nov 2016 they marched their way to 308 Sharrowvale Road and have been going from strength to strength ever since. Donna Powell, the proud owner of Trapeze Kids began her passion for kids clothing whilst studying fashion and textiles at uni. Since graduating she honed her skills as a kids wear buyer which has given her the skills to keep her shop creative, playful and full of well designed pieces that can be handed down from generation to generation.

You may be asking yourself… where does the name come from? Are they training kids to do summersaults down Sharrow?! Well, unfortunately no! The name is inspired by the circus as it’s fun, colourful and eclectic, all things Donna wanted the store to reflect, whilst emphasising kids fearless spirit too.

For us here at Independent Sheffield we’re of the age where all of our friends and families are constantly handing us new born babies to cue over, so we’re always on the lookout for baby gifts and one thing we absolutely adore about Trapeze Kids is the that you can get a beautiful non-gender stereotyped gift with ease, it’s 2017 after all! It’s also worth noting that all items are gift wrapped to save you from those cellotape tangles and not only do they offer 10% discount with your Independent Sheffield card but they have their own customer loyalty scheme which rewards customers on future purchases.

There is a resounding sense of community spirit on Sharrow Vale, lots of independent businesses supporting each other with loyal local shoppers who value the small business ethos, which helps keep the area proud, local and a thriving alternative to the high street. Donna has worked on a collaboration with a local knitter; Sootie Limetree, to create some exclusive toys for the store and is always on the lookout for local brands and makers to work with. There are also some events and workshops coming up so make sure you keep an eye on their website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for details.
