The Cabin

There’s something intensely satisfying about the word pancake. It is fun to say and even tastier to eat. The Cabin on Fitzwilliam Street is bringing the pancake to Sheffield, America-style!

Before delving into the details we thought a little history of where this idea was born would be appropriate. It all started when George, one of the owners’, father would make pancakes for the family every Saturday morning, and like all good traditions it was one that George was keen to pass on to his children. This love for pancakes meant that when out for family brunches it would be the food of choice but they were frequently told that the kitchen had run out! This lead George to thinking that if they were making the pancakes to order then running out would not be possible, therefore the pancakes must not be fresh. And so the idea of The Cabin Pancake, Waffle & Coffee House was born!

The Cabin transports you to the heart of the Rocky Mountains with a log cabin feel, deep sofas to while away a winters day and brunches to satisfy even the heartiest of appetites, you can’t help but feel at home upon entering.

They serve up a range of sweet and savoury pancake stacks, waffles and bagels. Out for brunch and feeling hungry we opted for The Works; pancakes with bacon, caramelised onion sausage patty, scrambled eggs, all topped with none other than maple syrup! We also think the giant waffle chilli & cheese dogs look incredible and are going to prove popular with the students.

If you fancy something slightly smaller, and healthy, be sure to sample a pure fruit smoothie. Or if you’re feeling like a treat why not try a maple or a peanut butter & jelly ice-cream shake, made especially for them by Our Cow Molly!

The Cabin crew believe in the well-being of people and the planet so have made sure all their packaging is eco-friendly, their coffee is ethically sourced, and they use as many local products as possible. They also give away a proportion of profits to local and global charities that are close to their hearts. Their toilets are twinned with Tearfund latrines and the Dalit Goods Co. sales support some of the most marginalised people in India.

The waffles from the Cabin are quite literally moan out loud worthy. Even looking at them makes us hungry, so why not give them a follow on their social media to stay in the loop and head down to try some for yourself.
